HEARING TESTING
We will identify hearing potential at many frequencies to assess current level of hearing. Audiogram test results are used to program the hearing aid if one is purchased. Clear Tones Hearing is licensed in the State of Indiana to test, dispense and fit hearing aids.
VIDEO OTOSCOPY
A video otoscope is used to inspect the ear canal and tympanic membrane (ear drum) for any irregularities that may be impairing the hearing process. The most common problem identified is ear wax. This is shown on a television screen so that it is clearly visible to the Specialist and the patient. If ear was forms a "plug" in the ear canal, the patient will be referred to an ENT for wax removal which will need to be done prior to hearing testing.
HEARING AID CLEANING & REPAIR
Clear Tones Hearing cleans hearing aids with a vacuum/needle aspirator. Small repairs can be completed in the office, and if need be, we can send a defective hearing aid to Starkey Labs for repairs.
HEARING AID SALES & FITTING
After assessing your current hearing condition, we will consult with you about what your true needs and desires are. We will then make a recommendation based on the results we have received. When a decision is made to proceed, we will take impressions of your ear, and about a week later, your new hearing aids will arrive. At that time, Clear Tones Hearing will first ensure that the hearing aid fits well in your ear, and then we will program it based on the audiogram results. We will usually see you at least once a week until we get the hearing aids programmed to your satisfaction. We know that our hearing aids do a great job at enhancing communication for the hearing impaired, we will consult with you that you should not expect perfect hearing. Realistic expectations are crucial for success.
