IN THE CANAL HEARING INSTRUMENT
This style of hearing instrument definitely has its place for many hearing instrument wearers. It is also made by taking an ear impression, so the hearing instrument will fit in the ear precisely. The electronics (amplifier) are the same as for the CIC, but in some cases, we can put a larger receiver into an ITC and we can get more power out of an ITC than a CIC.
However, if the person wearing the hearing instrument has a large enough ear canal, the CIC's can now pack in a stronger matrix which gives more gain (power) as well. The ITC takes a size 312 battery, and it will typically last 6-8 days. Sometimes poeple have difficulty handling the smaller battery of the CIC.
- Larger design (easier to handle when a person has dexterity problems).
- Larger battery (so battery will last longer).
- Easier to see than the very small hearing instruments.
